Dear Squalane, you had us at hydration, oil control, and age-defying! While only a few of Squalane’s skin care benefits, we knew this power ingredient was a must in our PM serum. Let’s explore it further… Squalane, not to be confused with Squalene, is its derivative. Squalane (with an “a”) is produced by your skin as a natural lipid to lubricate and to protect itself. Because it contains hydrogen and therefore is stable and reacts well to oxygen, it is well suited for skin and cosmetic products as compared to Squalene. Coupled with longer shelf life, it has earned its fair spot as one of the most popular ingredients in skincare (including lip gloss and sunscreen) today.
This star ingredient delivers ultra-hydration, leaving behind healthier results. It is also a highly effective emollient and natural antioxidant, helping to slow down the aging process of skin by increasing elasticity and making fine lines and dryness less visible. Regular use of Squalane promotes collagen production for firmer, supple, younger-looking skin… yes please! It penetrates into the pores, improves skin at the cellular level and feels extremely light, making it ideal for oily, acne prone skin. To add, according to research, it has anti-inflammatory properties that reduce redness, swelling and targets other skin concerns as well.
Including this mega powerful ingredient was a no brainers for us. Our Sunset Restore Serum has 3.33% Squalane. We recommend applying the serum to cleansed, dry skin as you wind down in the evening. Gently massage the product onto your face, neck and body in an upward motion using your fingers. Follow this with a moisturizer of your choice (as needed) and feel your skin rejuvenate overnight. The combination of chemistry-meets-Ayurvedic ingredients (which we’ve coined as Ayurvedistry™) will naturally fit into your nighttime routine, streamlining and replacing the need for antiquated multi-step regimes.
