The summer skin care essentials – ingredients your skin care needs

Summers are here and that means that your skin is always going to be craving for a little something extra. Just like your throat is constantly feeling parched and dry, so is your skin and you need to make sure that you give it the hydration and care that it needs. There are many people who will go their nearest supermarket or pharmacy and simply pick products, because the packaging looks nice.

However, like you read the ingredients of everything you ingest, it is important to read the labels on your skincare products too. You need to figure out if the product has ingredients that are good for skin, especially during the summer months.

Here are the summer skincare ingredients that you should use

Getting a more than basic information on what ingredients will work really well on your skin during the summers, will allow you to have a better skin care routine. Obviously, you need to have ingredients that will hydrate your skin from within, but also offer nourishment, help rejuvenate your skin and of course, given that it is summers, you will something that will protect you from the sun too!

  • Vitamin C – Probably one of the powerhouses in the world of skin care, you need a little bit of vitamin C in your summer skincare routine because not only does it have incredible antioxidant properties that can help neutralize free radicals caused by UV radiation from the sun, but also boost collagen production to keep your skin looking healthy and firm. This is one of the reasons why we at indē wild added it to our AM Sunrise Glow Serum.
  • Vitamin E – Another potent ingredient that can help your skin during the hot summers months is vitamin E, which has antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that will protect and soothe your skin. In addition, it can also help your skin retain the natural moisture.
  • Squalane – This ingredient is known to have immense hydration properties and can keep your skin feeling moisturized, without leaving it greasy. Along with keeping your skin feeling healthy, it can also strengthen the skin barrier and keep those first signs of aging away. One of the reasons we added squalane to our PM Sunset Restore Serum is so that it can work overnight to repair and rejuvenate your skin, while you catch up on your beauty sleep.
  • Tripeptide Complex – Sun damage is inevitable during the summers and you will need summer skin care products that have ingredients with repairing capabilities, such as tripeptide complex. Not only will it help with skin repair, but also support over skin health and improve the elasticity and firmness of your skin, because it can stimulate collagen production.
  • Niacinamide – This is one of the most important ingredients that needs to be there in your summer skin care arsenal – niacinamide, can strengthen the skin barrier, reduce moisture loss, calm down skin redness and irritation that could be caused due to exposure to the sun and regulate oil production, which is a common problem for several people when the humidity increases during the summer months.
  • Hyaluronic Acid – So, here is why you need hyaluronic acid for summer skin care; it can actually attract and retain moisture in the skin, keeping it plump and hydrated and can also soothe sunburned skin and reduces dryness. We use it because we know that it is a comedogenic ingredient, which means that it is suitable for all skin types, including the sensitive ones.
  • Zinc Oxide – Did you know that zinc oxide is one of the rare ingredients that can provides broad-spectrum protection against both UVA and UVB rays? Because it is gentle on the skin, it is suitable for daily usage and can help calm the inflammation and redness that is caused by the sun. This is why it is one of the main ingredients in our AM Sunscreen Glow Drops, which contains 12% zinc oxide.
  • Turmeric – Given that we are an Ayurvedistry brand, we do endorse several ingredients that come from the natural world and turmeric has to be one of the main ones. It is literally a superfood for your skin; it can reduce inflammation and redness that is commonly caused by UV exposure, it can protect your skin against the free radicals and can help even out your skin tone.
  • Ashwagandha – If you are looking for an ingredient that can help your skin cope against UV damage, protect it against the oxidative stress that is generally induced by sun exposure and soothe your skin during the summer months, you will need a little bit of ashwagandha in your skincare.
  • Bakuchiol – One of our PM Sunset Restore serum ingredients is bakuchiol, which is the plant-based alternative to retinol. So, retinol is known to improve skin texture and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles that can be caused by sun damage. However, bakuchiol is a lot gentler on the skin and unlike retinol, it does not cause sun sensitivity either.
  • Amla – A natural source of vitamin C, amla or Indian gooseberry can offer enhanced protection against UV-induced damage and free radicals, as well as soothe skin that is sunburnt. Amla can also help even out your skin tone and reduce any hyperpigmentation that is caused due to sun exposure.
  • Centella – Also known as gotu kola, Centella is a super ingredient for the summer months; it can speed up the healing of sunburns, help reduce inflammation, soothe skin that has become red or irritated due to sun exposure and can help your skin repair naturally, because it can promote collagen synthesis.
  • Saffron - While most people will know saffron as one of the most expensive spices in the world, it is also a wonderful skin ingredient, because it can protect your skin from UV-induced damage and oxidative stress. Use it to soothe irritated skin and reduce the appearance of dark spots, for skin that looks even toned and radiant!

Now, instead of going out looking for all these ingredients, you can simply come and shop at indē wild, because our skincare range has been created with all the ingredients that are good for skin, a little bit of science and plenty of thought and care!
