SO WHAT IS HYALURONIC ACID, REALLY?

Hyaluronic Acid has become all the rage in skincare products, and rightfully so. Despite its seemingly complicated name, this ingredient (often shortened to HA) has a simple, yet significant purpose – hydration! But what is it… really?

This fountain of youth (literally) ingredient is a substance, a sugar molecule in fact, that is naturally found in the body including in the skin and eyes. It is the reason why younger skin is more plump, supple and even toned. The bad news is that as we age – though diet and genetics play a part – Hyaluronic Acid depletes. Insert skincare infused with this moisture-binding ingredient. Better yet, insert our Sunrise Glow Serum. We’ve intentionally included Hyaluronic Acid in our formula so that as you go about your day, it gets to work, drawing in moisture from the air and locking it into your skin.

Let’s break it down further…

Hyaluronic Acid is a humectant, meaning it retains moisture. This generally well tolerated ingredient, sensitive skin included, binds water to collagen. The result – dewy (non-greasy), plump, bouncy, hydrated skin. For those with dryer skin type, or in winter months, Hyaluronic Acid is a wonderful topical option.

Our Sunrise Glow Serum has 15% Vitamin C, an optimal, yet unheard of concentration which is both highly efficacious but also wildly powerful. For some, that can be irritating to the skin if not suspended in the right formula and amidst calming ingredients – ahem, like Hyaluronic Acid. The moisturizing attributes of Hyaluronic Acid help to soothe the skin, while creating balance and counteracting the sometimes “tingling” feeling that Vitamin C can bring. In skincare products, particularly in serums like ours that soak into the pores, it even boosts and accelerates wound healing. In fact, though it contains “acid” in its name which is often associated with stripping or exfoliating the skin, Hyaluronic Acid does the opposite and is used to gently combat acne scarring for even, glowing results with consistent use.
