Hyaluronic Acid for Skin Care – Does Your Skin Need It?

Of late, there are some ingredients that have come into the limelight and there is a lot of conversation surrounding them, but not everyone is actually aware of what these ingredients are, how they work and most importantly, whether that ingredient will work for them or not.

At indē wild, we go beyond just bringing you some of the finest skin and hair care products. We are also about simplifying your self-care routines and also simplifying the ingredients, so that you know what you are using on your body.

In this blog, we are going to take a deeper look into one such ingredient that has been in focus a fair bit in the past few years - hyaluronic acid.

Let’s start with what is hyaluronic acid?

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring glycosaminoglycan that is found throughout the body’s connective tissue naturally. Glycosaminoglycans are actually long unbranched carbohydrates, or sugars, and are also known as polysaccharides. This acid is one of the main components of what gives your skin its structure; this is what gives your skin that plump and hydrated look.

In addition to all this, hyaluronic acid is also:

  • A natural moisturiser that can not only retain moisture in your skin, but can also attract it from the environment and lock it in
  • An element with a large molecular structure, which can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water
  • A layer of protection on the skin, which protects the moisture and reduces the loss of hydration

Hyaluronic acid is also known to have several other benefits for the skin and these include:

  • It is believed that regular usage of hyaluronic acid can help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, particularly around the eyes and mouth.
  • This ingredient can improve skin elasticity and give you skin that is firmer, younger looking and plumper.
  • It can also stimulate collagen synthesis, which helps maintain skin structure and firmness.
  • Regular usage can also calm and soothe irritated or sensitive skin, reducing redness and discomfort.

How to use hyaluronic acid – is there a way to do it?

Yes, you can use hyaluronic acid for sensitive skin too, but knowing how to use it is important too. There are several ways in which you can use this ingredient in your skincare routine.

  • Serums and moisturisers – These are the most common ways in which you can include hyaluronic acid in your regular skin care, but you need to make sure that you pick with care. You want a formulation that nourishes and hydrates your skin, but doesn’t leave it feeling weighed down. Also remember to check the concentration in the product that you are looking – serums will generally have the capability to give you a deeper penetration.
  • Masks – You can find sheet masks as well as overnight masks, which can offer easy hydration and rejuvenation. As a matter of fact, some hyaluronic acid-based sheet masks can offer an immediate moisture boost, leaving the skin plump and refreshed.
  • Injectable fillers – These are generally used as part of cosmetic procedures to fill deeper wrinkles and add volume to the face and while these can offer an immediate moisture boost, they need to be done by professionals and under a controlled environment.

Make sure that you wash your face with a gentle cleanser first and then apply the hyaluronic acid-based product.

Consideration factors to keep in mind about hyaluronic acid for oily skin, dry skin and sensitive skin

Scientifically, hyaluronic acid is suitable for all skin types, but it is always better to do a patch test first, before usage. However, if you are picking a product like our AM Sunrise Glow Serum with 15% Vitamin C, then you can be sure that it will work for all skin types, including dry, oily, sensitive, and acne-prone.

It is interesting to note that hyaluronic acid pairs really well with Vitamin C, because it provides antioxidant protection and brightening effects and that the precise combination that you get with our serum.

Hyaluronic acid for dry skin and every other skin type – AM Serum works the magic!

If you want to add hyaluronic acid into your regular skincare routine, then our AM Sunrise Glow Serum is the easiest way to do so. Our new and improved formula is a lot more stable, a lot more potent and of course, a lot more effective. Here are just some of the benefits your skin will reap with our serum, which we would like to call “your skin’s protein supply”!

  • Hydration and hyaluronic acid are almost synonyms; it has the ability to penetrate the skin and bind water to the cells of the skin.
  • Imagine a sponge that can soak up all the water in the dish and hold it within itself – that is what hyaluronic acid is! This ingredient is a humectant, which can absorb moisture from the atmosphere and lock it in, within your skin.
  • The lipid barrier of the skin – a layer of fatty tissue that sits right underneath our skin, slows down with age, but why hyaluronic acid is introduced, it slows down the deterioration of the barrier and actually helps in the fortification of the same.
  • Now that your lipid barrier is being protected, there is an increased amount of resilience; which means that your skin will look younger, bouncier and even brighter. This is actually the easiest way to protect and nourish acne prone skin.
  • While hyaluronic acid might not replace elastin, it can help improve the tightness of the skin and can even give you smoother and more even toned skin. It can even help with hyperpigmentation and reduce those spots to give you clean and clear skin.

Now that you know a lot more about how to use hyaluronic acid, its benefits and how it works, all you need to do is pick a bottle of our AM Serum and you are all set!
